In recent years, the amount of snow we receive has grown less and less - it's really sad. Our snowfalls usually end up in what I call the "green-brown checkerboard pattern" -- you can still see all of the green and brown grass on the ground, the snow is just enough of a dusting to look like the white lines separating the squares on a checkerboard. Pitiful.
Well......yesterday we had SNOW!!! We have 8 to 10 inches of snow on the ground!!!!! I do believe I am as excited as all the children I saw out yesterday - maybe even more! I took a long walk yesterday in the snow and so thoroughly enjoyed myself - it was so quiet - almost as if you could actually hear the snow falling. It was my own little slice of Heaven.
For those of you in parts of the country or world that receive lots of snow each winter, I'm sure you think I'm nuts! Take solace - I am! But ..... when you only get enough snow to actually cover the grass every 4 or 5 years and you have wonderful childhood memories of playing in the snow every winter, it's a novelty and fun!
Here are some of the pictures I took with my phone during yesterday's snowfall. I sat glued to my sliding glass door - mesmerized by the snowfall and the flood of memories.

Throughout the day the icicles hanging from my birdbath grew so long that they eventually touched the bunny's nose!

This is looking out my front picture window. For the first time in years you can't see the street because it's covered with SNOW!!

Looking out my sliding glass door to the backyard. My little feathered friends were hitting the feeders constantly all day. They loved the little smorgasbord of seed and corn we sprinkled on the ground under the picnic table!
