Communication

Have you entered the world of texting? I entered kicking and screaming. I used to admonish my son for texting - "Why in the world can't you just call them?" I'd say - "What's the problem? Are you afraid someone might hear your conversation?" I'd say.

Then there was the constant struggle to get him to respond to me when I'd call! Every time I called him I always went to voice mail. ALWAYS! At first my message simply said, "call me." Then they progressed to a sterner, "this is your mother, call me." Then they progressed to a totally irritated, "this is your mother, the person who pays the bill, the least you could do is answer the phone." Then I'd wait and wait and wait and wait to get a return phone call.

But ...... I discovered that if I sent him a text -- BAM -- I got an immediate response. What's with that? Now I text all the time. I text him - I text friends - I post to my Facebook and Twitter accounts through texting - I text clients. Heck! he and I can be sitting in the same room and text one another; that's why I related so well to the above cartoon.

Pitiful.
