I can't be the only person who is disgusted by the high number of Christmas commercials on TV since the first of November. I know there were a couple here and there before Halloween, but it seems the push is now on since Halloween.
WHY?
Doesn't any one want to celebrate Thanksgiving any more?
Doesn't any one have anything to be thankful for any more?
I know retail wants to help boost the economy as much as possible - at least retail is trying to make us all believe they want to boost the economy.
Let's face it -- it comes down to one word
GREED!
Pretty soon, if as a public we're not careful, there will be Christmas decorations and commercials immediately after Labor Day.
Then they will start to appear immediately after the 4th of July.
Then they will start to appear immediately after Memorial Day.
You get the picture .... the day will come where retail will push Christmas 365 days of the year (366 in leap year).
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't think a little ahead when it comes to buying for Christmas. I pick up little things here and there throughout the year for Christmas gifts. However, I refuse to make the huge Christmas shopping push until AFTER Thanksgiving.
Also, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I don't struggle to always remember the "reason for the season." I, too, always ends up getting caught up in the commercialism -- but I simply REFUSE to get caught up in that commercialism until after Thanksgiving!
Who's with me?
