What a morning.
It's been one of those mornings. One of those mornings where I just want to go back to bed. It's been one of those mornings where you would have stayed in bed if you knew it was going to turn out to be the way it was. Do you know what I mean? You can't tell me you've never had a morning like that!
I think I've said before in one of my posts that I own and operate a pet sitting business, Pampered Paws. As a pet sitter, you can imagine, you have runs during the day. Today is going to be a very busy day with 10 runs! They start this morning.
So ...... you're probably thinking that something went wrong during one of my runs.
NO!
It started before I even put my feet on the floor this morning.
When I woke up this morning to the alarm, all seemed calm and tranquil. Then I looked at the clock ..... it read 7:30am ..... it was supposed to read 6:15am ..... then I remembered that I had not changed the alarm before going to bed last night. Darn!
I have these routines - they're not fun, but they get my day on track. So ...... this morning I quickly realize that I have to forego my morning routine so I can get started on the morning runs. I quickly hop out of bed ..... grab some clothes ..... run my fingers through my hair ..... grab a cold cloth to wipe off my face. I head to the kitchen for my calendar, pet keys, and car keys.
There is the calendar.
There are the pet keys.
Where are the car keys?
There are 3 people in my family ..... there are 3 people in my family that drive ..... there are 4 cars for these 3 people in my family that drive to use. My husband's truck is on the fritz so that eliminates one of those 4 cars for the 3 people in my family that drive to use. He's using the family car to go to and from work daily, my son's using his car, and I'm using the company car. All has been fine and worked rather well.
Until this morning .......
I can't find the keys to the company car! Suddenly I remembered putting them in the cup holder of the family car on Friday evening - surely they can't still be there. After searching (and cussing) a little bit longer, I called my husband.
"Have you seen the keys to the little car?" I ask.
"Yep, they're in the cup holder," he says.
"Why didn't you leave them home?" I ask.
"I didn't worry about them because there is an extra key to the car in the house," he says.
"No, there isn't," I say.
"I thought there was," he says. "Where is it?"
"The extra key is in the console of the car you're driving," I say emphatically.
"Oh," he says. "Do you need them?" he asks.
Is the man nuts or something!!!!
After hanging up the phone, I went to my son's room where he's sleeping so peacefully. I woke him and explained why I needed him to move quickly and get up. He's not thrilled about having to wake up so early to drive me to and from where his dad works so I can get the key. His dad works 30 minutes up the road - an hour to make the round trip.
Oh boy! doesn't this sound like a great way to spend a Monday morning.
We stop for gas. I'm thinking, "come on son, I have to go!"
We make the 1st run of the day. I'm thinking, "come on CJ, let's go potty and eat, I have to go!"
Finally ..... we're headed up to get the key.
Ah ..... the key is in my hand. Things are beginning to look up! We start to head back home. I told my son I would buy breakfast for both of us at Chick-Fil-A (this is after I put some gas in his car because he had to make this unexpected trip because his dad decided having this key in his cup holder wasn't anything to worry about).
My reasoning for getting a Chick-Fil-A breakfast --
I've expended so much energy thinking negative thoughts about my husband this morning - the protein from the chicken minis will replenish that energy.
I've lost a lot of my sweetness by thinking all those poisoning thoughts about my husband this morning - the sweet tea that I'm addicted to will replenish that lost sweetness.
I feel drained from having to move so quickly this morning and missing my coffee - the sugar from the cinnamon cluster will perk me up.
All very good, solid, and sound reasons!
We went through the drive-thru and ordered 3 3-count chicken minis, 2 cinnamon clusters, and 1 sweet tea. We don't check the bag before driving away because Chick-Fil-A never gets the order wrong.
Until ..... this morning.
When we get home, there are 2 3-count chicken minis, 2 cinnamon clusters, and 1 sweet tea. I suppose you would call this the point where "the straw broke the camel's back." I just couldn't believe that one more thing could possibly go wrong this morning. Of course, the people at "my" Chick-Fil-A are wonderful and refilled the entire order so all the food would be hot and fresh.
Now .... I just want to go back to bed. I can't, of course, because I have 9 more runs for today as well as all the other little chores of the day. Of course, now I couldn't care less if all those little "chores" and routines for Monday are completed. I'm completely over Monday. I'm just ready to go to bed and wake up on Tuesday morning.
So ..... here's the perfect solution .....
